I recreate places that exist only in my imagination, scenic fantasies, fictional atmospheres with a particular appearance of reality.

BIO

Rosa Muñoz is a visual artist and a key figure in the realm of constructed photography in our country. Her approach is defined by staging, where she transforms reality to immerse the viewer in a fictional space. Through her images, the audience becomes part of the narrative, exploring and questioning the nature of what is real and what is imagined. This practice not only creates an immersive visual experience but also subverts traditional expectations of documentary photography.

Throughout her career, Muñoz has delved deeply into themes such as memory and the passage of time, particularly in relation to urban spaces. Her photographs reflect the transformation of landscapes and the disappearance of elements that, though fleeting, are integral to our collective identity. With a sensitivity that highlights both the social and the poetic, her works invite reflection on the transient nature of life and the enduring structures we inhabit.

Her work is characterised by its dreamlike atmosphere, where the everyday is decontextualised and presented as a visual metaphor. Muñoz’s images are not mere records but artistic interventions that transform spaces and objects into narratives open to multiple interpretations.
